Fees
Our only income is from you, our clients, so we value your custom. We will estimate costs for you prior to admitting your pets, if you wish. We endeavour to keep our fees as realistic as possible and appreciate prompt payment at the time of treatment.
To help with that, we accept most major credit/debit cards and cash. We accept; Electron, Maestro, Solo, Switch, Visa and Visa Electron. We can no longer accept cheques as payment. We do not wish to embarrass you by refusing credit.
Insurance
We encourage all pet owners to take out insurance to cover unexpected veterinary bills and third party liability (dogs only). Please talk to our staff who will gladly advise you.
PDSA Vet Care Scheme
Our Saltcoats and Lochwinnoch surgeries are members of the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) PetAid Scheme. Under this scheme, the PDSA will help those who are eligible with their unexpected veterinary fees.
The PDSA will cover cats, dogs and small furries (rabbits, hamsters etc.) but will only cover one animal per household and they must be registered with the PDSA before they need treatment.
To be eligible to claim from PDSA you must:
- live within the postcode boundary (KA11 - KA13, KA20 - KA24 or PA12)
- receive either housing benefit or council tax benefit
- have your pet health checked by the vet
Please be aware that the following are NOT covered by PDSA:
- Vaccinations
- Routine neutering
- Flea and worming preventative treatments
- House calls
- Pregnancy diagnosis
- Laboratory tests not necessary for diagnosis
- Post mortem examinations
- Pet food
If you would like to apply for PDSA pet aid support please drop in to our Saltcoats or Lochwinnoch surgeries where our staff will be pleased to help you. You will need to fill in an application form and provide proof of council tax benefit or housing benefit. Once registered the PDSA will send you a certificate which you will need to take with you each time you visit the vets. The certificate also needs to be renewed every year.
